Terms Used In South Carolina Code 14-3-100
- Adjourn: A motion to adjourn a legislative chamber or a committee, if passed, ends that day's session.
- Quorum: The number of legislators that must be present to do business.
If at any stated term of the court a quorum thereof shall not attend on the first day of the term, the justice or justices attending may adjourn the court from day to day for ten days after the time appointed for the commencement of the term, unless a quorum shall sooner attend or unless a sufficient number of men learned in the law, commissioned by the Governor as provided in § 14-3-60, to make a quorum, shall sooner attend, and the business of the court shall not in such case be continued over to the next stated term thereof until the expiration of such ten days.
