Terms Used In South Carolina Code 14-7-210
- Mistrial: An invalid trial, caused by fundamental error. When a mistrial is declared, the trial must start again from the selection of the jury.
- Verdict: The decision of a petit jury or a judge.
Whenever a jury is charged with a case, it must not be discharged by reason of anything in § 14-7-200 contained until a verdict is found or a mistrial ordered in such case.
