Before entering upon the duties of his office, any such deputy shall take the oaths prescribed by the Constitution and statutes of this State. Any person so appointed a deputy sheriff under the provisions of this article shall execute the bond required of constables by § 22-9-20 and shall be subject to the provisions of § 22-9-160.
