This chapter does not apply to:
(a) an insurer authorized to do business in this State;

- insurance: includes annuities. See South Carolina Code 38-1-20
- Insurer: includes a corporation, fraternal organization, burial association, other association, partnership, society, order, individual, or aggregation of individuals engaging or proposing or attempting to engage as principals in any kind of insurance or surety business, including the exchanging of reciprocal or interinsurance contracts between individuals, partnerships, and corporations. See South Carolina Code 38-1-20
(b) a banking institution, savings and loan association, cooperative credit union, consumer finance company provided for in §§ 34-29-10 to 34-29-260 authorized to do business in this State, or a supervised lender provided for in Title 37 authorized to do business in this State;
(c) the inclusion of a charge for insurance in connection with an installment sale of goods or services;
(d) the advancing of premiums by insurance agents and producers of record under Article 3, Chapter 43 of this title.
