- Presiding officer: A majority-party Senator who presides over the Senate and is charged with maintaining order and decorum, recognizing Members to speak, and interpreting the Senate's rules, practices and precedents.
- Testimony: Evidence presented orally by witnesses during trials or before grand juries.
In addition to the powers and duties enumerated in § 40-1-90, the presiding officer of the board may administer oaths when taking of testimony upon any and all matters pertaining to the business or duties of the board.
