Terms Used In South Carolina Code 42-13-100

  • Ionizing radiation: means any particulate or electromagnetic radiation capable of producing ions directly or indirectly in its passage through matter. See South Carolina Code 42-13-10
  • Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
Any settlement which waives liability for possible subsequently appearing consequences of ionizing radiation injury or disability is invalid unless approved by the Workers’ Compensation Commission.
