Terms Used In South Carolina Code 44-23-40
- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
- Department: means the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. See South Carolina Code 44-23-10
Any person affected by the rules and regulations of the Department adopted pursuant to § 44-9-100 shall have the right to appeal therefrom to any court of record.
