Terms Used In South Carolina Code 59-19-520

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
In counties where the functions of the boards of trustees and those of the county board of education have been combined, the appeal provided in § 59-19-510 shall lie to the county board of education from its original action disposing of the matter in controversy before hearing.
