- Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
The district board of any school district authorized to issue general obligation bonds of the school district is hereby authorized to provide by resolution duly adopted that if the principal or interest of any general obligation bonds issued by the school district are not paid when they become due, the holder of the bonds and coupons may present them to the State Treasurer of South Carolina who, to the extent that moneys shall be available to the school district for any purpose and from any source, shall effect payment of them and charge such payments to the account of the school district and diminish the payments otherwise to be made to the extent thereof; provided, that no such resolution shall be effective unless it has been approved by the State Treasurer as provided in § 59-71-320.
