The debt service on bonds authorized by this chapter issued by a municipality to finance improvements under and permitted by the Municipal Improvement Act of 1999 shall not impose or be derived from in whole or in part a tax or assessment on property not located in the improvement district.
The provisions of this section do not apply to projects or undertakings designated by a municipal governing body as a "system" under § 6-21-40.
Terms Used In South Carolina Code 6-21-55
- governing body: as used in this chapter shall be construed to mean, in the case of a county, the board of county commissioners or other like governing body thereof, in the case of a city or incorporated town, the board of commissioners, the mayor and council or other like governing body thereof and, in the case of a township, the board of county commissioners or other governing body of the county in which the township is located.
