Terms Used In South Carolina Code 63-11-570

  • Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
  • Guardian: means a person who legally has the care and management of a child. See South Carolina Code 63-1-40
The General Assembly shall provide the funds necessary for the South Carolina Guardian ad Litem Program to carry out the provisions of §§ 63-11-500 through 63-11-560 and 63-7-1990(B)(5). The General Assembly shall not provide any funding for a county guardian ad litem program.
