(A) The family court has exclusive jurisdiction over all proceedings held pursuant to this article.
(B) The county in which the child resides is the legal place of venue.
Terms Used In South Carolina Code 63-7-1610
- Child: means a person under the age of eighteen. See South Carolina Code 63-7-20
- Court: means the family court. See South Carolina Code 63-7-20
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Venue: The geographical location in which a case is tried.
