Terms Used In South Carolina Code 63-7-340
- Child: means a person under the age of eighteen. See South Carolina Code 63-7-20
- Department: means the Department of Social Services. See South Carolina Code 63-7-20
- Subject of the report: means a person who is alleged or determined to have abused or neglected the child, who is mentioned by name in a report or finding. See South Carolina Code 63-7-20
When a report is referred to the department for an investigation or other response, the department must determine whether previous reports have been made regarding the same child or the same subject of the report. In determining whether previous reports have been made, the department must determine whether there are any suspected, indicated, or unfounded reports maintained pursuant to § 63-7-930 regarding the same child or the same subject of the report.
