Challenges for cause must be tried by the court. The juror challenged and any other person may be examined as a witness on the trial of the challenge.
Terms Used In South Dakota Codified Laws 15-14-9
- Juror: A person who is on the jury.
- Person: includes natural persons, partnerships, associations, cooperative corporations, limited liability companies, and corporations. See South Dakota Codified Laws 2-14-2
- Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
