Every vehicle referred to in § 32-17-14 or combination of such vehicles having a length in excess of thirty feet or a width in excess of eighty inches shall be equipped with lamps on the front displaying three amber lights and lamps on the rear displaying three red lights, and the lights in each group shall be evenly spaced not less than six nor more than thirty inches apart along a horizontal line near the top of the vehicle and said lights shall be visible from distances of five hundred feet to the front and rear, respectively, of the vehicle. A violation of this section is a petty offense.
