South Dakota Codified Laws 34-12-13. Rules to protect patients’ health and safety
The State Department of Health may promulgate rules, pursuant to chapter 1-26, which are necessary to protect the health and safety of patients cared for in licensed health care facilities. The regulations may be in regard to the following areas:
(1) Sanitary and safe conditions of the premises;
(2) Cleanliness of operation;
(3) Fire safety and construction;
(4) Physical equipment found necessary and in the public interest;
(5) Management and administration;
(6) Physician’s services;
(7) Nursing and related care;
(8) Dietetic services;
(9) Medication control;
(10) Records;
(11) Diagnostic services;
(12) Hospital complementary services;
(13) Long–term care diversionary services;
(14) Patient safety and health;
(15) Residents’ rights in nursing homes and assisted living centers.
