The board shall grant a license to any person certified prior to July 1, 1986, as an occupational therapist, registered or a certified occupational therapy assistant by the American occupational therapy association. The board may waive the examination, education or experience requirements and grant a license to any person certified by the American Occupational Therapy Association after July 1, 1986 if the board determines the requirements for such certification are equivalent to the requirements for licensure in this chapter. The board may waive the examination, education or experience requirements and grant a license to any applicant who shall present proof of current licensure as an occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant in another state, the District of Columbia, or territory of the United States which requires standards for licensure considered by the board to be equivalent to the requirements for licensure of this chapter.
