Upon application and payment of the required fee, the applicant for a license to practice as a licensed practical nurse shall pass a written examination approved by the board. Upon achieving the passing standard as determined by the board and if otherwise qualified under § 36-9-49, the board shall issue to the applicant a license to practice as a licensed practical nurse.
