The township treasurer, within five days before the annual township meeting, shall prepare a report of the cash balance at the start of the fiscal year, receipts and disbursements for the fiscal year, and the cash balance and longterm debt as of the end of the fiscal year. The report shall be in the form prescribed by the auditor general. A copy of the report shall be filed with the township clerk and with the county auditor by the last day of March. Upon receiving a copy of the township annual report from the township treasurer, the county auditor shall forward a copy to the Department of Legislative Audit by the last day of April.

  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
