Terms Used In Tennessee Code 20-1-115
- Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
- Person: includes a corporation, firm, company or association. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
- Property: includes both personal and real property. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
In actions for the recovery of property, any person not a party to the action, on showing interest in the subject matter of the suit, may be allowed to appear as defendant in the action.
