Under the Tennessee Code, punishments for crimes depend on the classification. In the case of this section:| Class | Prison | Fine |
|---|---|---|
| class E felony | 1 to 6 years | up to $3,000 |
Any prior felony offense committed between July 1, 1982, and November 1, 1989, which has not been classified pursuant to § 40-35-118 or otherwise, is a Class E felony.
