Terms Used In Tennessee Code 49-6-2205
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories of the United States. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
- textbooks: includes "electronic textbook" or "electronic textbooks" which means computer software, interactive videodisc, magnetic media, CD-ROM, computer courseware, local and remote computer assisted instruction, online service, electronic medium or other means of conveying information to the student or otherwise contributing to the learning process through electronic means. In the event that any bidder fails to execute the contract and bond as required under this part, in the event any contractor fails to carry out the contract, in the event all bids are unsatisfactory or in the event of the invalidation of any adoption, the state textbook and instructional materials quality commission is specifically authorized to proceed at once to make such rules and regulations concerning the filing of bids and samples as are necessary for an immediate listing for adoption in the subjects for which no adoption exists. The commission shall then proceed to make recommendations of books for adoption to the state board of education, after which the state board shall select and list certain books for adoption. Upon completion of the procedures in this section, the commission shall contract for textbooks and instructional materials in the subjects on which no adoption exists.
