(a) Any citizen of this state may obtain a warrant for the arrest of anyone violating this part, but it is declared to be a specific duty for the members of the Tennessee highway patrol to enforce this part.

Terms Used In Tennessee Code 54-20-205

  • Arrest: Taking physical custody of a person by lawful authority.
  • Automobile graveyard: means any lot or place that is exposed to the weather and upon which more than five (5) motor vehicles of any kind, incapable of being operated, and that it would not be economically practical to make operative, are placed, located or found. See Tennessee Code 54-20-201
  • Highway: includes public bridges and may be held equivalent to the words "county way" "county road" or "state road". See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
  • Person: includes a corporation, firm, company or association. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories of the United States. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
(b) A person violating any provision of this part commits a Class C misdemeanor.
(c) Each day’s subsequent violation constitutes a separate offense.
(d) In the case of automobile graveyards established prior to March 26, 1965, the owners or operators of the automobile graveyard shall have a reasonable and necessary period of time in which to comply with this part.
