Terms Used In Tennessee Code 56-7-1507

  • Commissioner: means the commissioner of commerce and insurance. See Tennessee Code 56-1-102
  • Issuer: includes insurance companies, fraternal benefit societies, health care service plans, health maintenance organizations, and any other entity delivering or issuing for delivery in this state medicare supplement policies or certificates. See Tennessee Code 56-7-1501
  • Medicare: means the Health Insurance for the Aged Act, Title XVIII of the Social Security Amendments of 1965. See Tennessee Code 56-7-1501
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories of the United States. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
  • written: includes printing, typewriting, engraving, lithography, and any other mode of representing words and letters. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105

Every issuer of medicare supplement insurance policies or certificates in this state shall provide a copy of any medicare supplement advertisement intended for use in this state whether through written, radio or television medium to the commissioner for review or approval by the commissioner. The commissioner shall promulgate reasonable rules and regulations to implement this section.
