Terms Used In Michigan Laws 124.255

  • Devise: To gift property by will.
  • Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
  • Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC
  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
     The authority may acquire property for a water supply system by purchase, construction, lease, gift, devise or condemnation, either within or without its corporate limits, and may hold, manage, control, sell, exchange or lease such property. For the purpose of condemnation, it may proceed under the provisions of Act No. 149 of the Public Acts of 1911, being section 213.21 to 213.41, inclusive, of the Compiled Laws of 1948, as now or hereafter amended, or any other appropriate statute.
