(1) A person who wishes to ship bees or beekeeping equipment into another state or country may apply to the director for an inspection for serious bee diseases likely to prevent the acceptance of the bees or beekeeping equipment in the state or country, and shall acknowledge in the application that person’s obligation to pay full expenses of the inspection.
(2) Upon receipt of the application or as soon after receipt as may be conveniently practicable, the director shall comply with the request.

- Bees: means any life stage of the common honey bee, Apis mellifera L. See Michigan Laws 286.801
- Director: means the director of the department of agriculture. See Michigan Laws 286.801
- Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
- person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, as well as to individuals. See Michigan Laws 8.3l
- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.
