Terms Used In Michigan Laws 330.1930

  • Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.

  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.      In the administration of the compact, the compact administrator shall not transfer any patient to an institution in another state without the prior written consent of the patient’s parents, nearest relative, or guardian. A copy of the consent shall be placed on file in the probate court of the county issuing the order of judicial admission or in the case of a nonjudicial admission, in the probate court of the county where the patient resides.
