(1) The board shall do all of the following:
(a) Organize and make rules governing the board’s formal and informal procedures.

- Board: means the asbestos abatement contractors licensing board created in section 201. See Michigan Laws 338.3103
- Freedom of Information Act: A federal law that mandates that all the records created and kept by federal agencies in the executive branch of government must be open for public inspection and copying. The only exceptions are those records that fall into one of nine exempted categories listed in the statute. Source: OCC
- Quorum: The number of legislators that must be present to do business.
(b) Meet not less than quarterly each year.
(c) Keep a record of the proceedings and functions.
(2) A special meeting of the board may be called by the chairperson and shall be called upon receipt of a written request signed by 2 or more members of the board. Four members of the board constitute a quorum to conduct business.
(3) The business which the board may perform shall be conducted at a public meeting of the board held in compliance with the open meetings act, Act No. 267 of the Public Acts of 1976, being section 15.261 to 15.275 of the Michigan Compiled Laws. Public notice of the time, date, and place of the meeting shall be given in the manner required by Act No. 267 of the Public Acts of 1976.
(4) A written document prepared, used, in the possession of, or retained by the board in the performance of an official function shall be made available to the public in compliance with the freedom of information act, Act No. 442 of the Public Acts of 1976, being section 15.231 to 15.246 of the Michigan Compiled Laws.
