- Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
By February 15 of each year, the department of treasury shall post to its publicly available website a report for the preceding fiscal year on all student financial aid programs for which funds are appropriated in section 236. For each student financial aid program, the report shall include, but is not limited to, the total number of awards paid in the preceding fiscal year, the total dollar amount of those awards, and the number of students receiving awards and the total amount of those awards at each eligible postsecondary institution. To the extent information is available, the report shall also include information on household income and other demographic characteristics of students receiving awards under each program and historical information on the number of awards and total award amounts for each program.
