Terms Used In Michigan Laws 493.66
- Commissioner: means the commissioner of the office of financial and insurance regulation of the department of energy, labor, and economic growth or his or her authorized representatives. See Michigan Laws 493.51
- Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
- Person: means an individual, corporation, limited liability company, partnership, association, or other legal entity. See Michigan Laws 493.51
- Subpoena: A command to a witness to appear and give testimony.
- Testify: Answer questions in court.
- Testimony: Evidence presented orally by witnesses during trials or before grand juries.
If a person fails to comply with a subpoena issued by the commissioner or to testify with respect to any matter concerning which the person may be lawfully questioned, the circuit court for Ingham county, on application of the commissioner, may issue an order requiring the attendance of the person and the giving of testimony or production of evidence. The court may punish by contempt a person who fails to obey the court’s order.
