Terms Used In Michigan Laws 500.4125

  • Commissioner: means the director. See Michigan Laws 500.102
  • Insurer: means an individual, corporation, association, partnership, reciprocal exchange, inter-insurer, Lloyds organization, fraternal benefit society, or other legal entity, engaged or attempting to engage in the business of making insurance or surety contracts. See Michigan Laws 500.106
     If the law or regulation in the place of domicile of a foreign insurer provides a degree of protection to the policyholders and the public that is substantially similar to that provided by these regulations, the commissioner to the extent considered appropriate by him or her may consider compliance with that law or regulation as compliance with this chapter.
