Terms Used In Michigan Laws 764.7
- Bail: Security given for the release of a criminal defendant or witness from legal custody (usually in the form of money) to secure his/her appearance on the day and time appointed.
- Judicial district: means the following:
(i) With regard to the circuit court, the county. See Michigan Laws 761.1Magistrate: means a judge of the district court or a judge of a municipal court. See Michigan Laws 761.1 person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, as well as to individuals. See Michigan Laws 8.3l
If the magistrate refuses to allow the arrested person to post bail, or if sufficient bail is not offered, the official having charge of the arrested person shall take the arrested person before a magistrate of the judicial district in which the offense is charged to have been committed.
