Terms Used In Michigan Laws > Chapter 400 > Act 546 of 2008 - Sexual Assault Victims' Medical Forensic Intervention and Treatment Act

  • Assets: (1) The property comprising the estate of a deceased person, or (2) the property in a trust account.
  • Board: means the domestic violence prevention and treatment board created in section 2 of 1978 PA 389, MCL 400. See Michigan Laws 400.1532
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • Fund: means the sexual assault victims' medical forensic intervention and treatment fund created in section 3. See Michigan Laws 400.1532
  • Government survey: means the land surveyed, subdivided and monumented by the United States public land survey. See Michigan Laws 560.102
  • Land: means all land areas occupied by real property. See Michigan Laws 560.102
  • Michigan coordinate system: means the system defined in1964 PA 9, MCL 54. See Michigan Laws 560.102
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, as well as to individuals. See Michigan Laws 8.3l
  • Plat: means a map or chart of a subdivision of land. See Michigan Laws 560.102
  • Proprietor: means a natural person, firm, association, partnership, corporation, or combination of any of them that holds an ownership interest in land whether recorded or not. See Michigan Laws 560.102
  • Sexual assault counselor: means an employee of a sexual assault crisis center whose primary purpose is the rendering of advice, counseling, or assistance to victims or advocacy for victims. See Michigan Laws 400.1532
  • Sexual assault crisis center: means a public or private agency that offers specialized direct assistance to victims, including, but not limited to:
    (i) A telephone hotline that is operated 24 hours a day and answered by a sexual assault counselor or trained volunteer. See Michigan Laws 400.1532
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
  • subdivision: means the partitioning or splitting of a parcel or tract of land by the proprietor thereof or by his or her heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives, successors, or assigns for the purpose of sale, or lease of more than 1 year, or of building development that results in 1 or more parcels of less than 40 acres or the equivalent, and that is not exempted from the platting requirements of this act by section 108 and 109.
