- Presiding officer: A majority-party Senator who presides over the Senate and is charged with maintaining order and decorum, recognizing Members to speak, and interpreting the Senate's rules, practices and precedents.
The commissioner of public health and the vice chancellor for The Texas A&M University System Agriculture Program may jointly appoint the presiding officer or may authorize the council members to elect a presiding officer from among the members of the council.
