Terms Used In Texas Agriculture Code 54.001

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Livestock: means cattle, horses, mules, asses, sheep, goats, llamas, alpacas, exotic livestock, including elk and elk hybrids, and hogs, unless otherwise defined. See Texas Agriculture Code 1.003

A corporation may be formed under this chapter to aid shareholders of its common stock in:
(1) producing, or producing and marketing, staple agricultural products; or
(2) acquiring, raising, breeding, fattening, or marketing livestock.
