- Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
An offer of structured settlement made after a suit to which this chapter applies has been filed must be:
(1) made in writing; and
(2) presented to the attorney for the claimant.
