(a) An institution of higher education shall, using an assessment instrument designated by the board under § 51.334, assess the academic skills of each entering undergraduate student to determine the student’s readiness to enroll in freshman-level academic coursework.
(b) An institution of higher education may not use the assessment required under this section or the results of the assessment as a condition of admission to the institution.
