(a) An eligible institution may use money received from the fund only for the support and maintenance of educational and general activities, including research and student services, that promote increased research capacity at the institution.
(b) Money received by an institution from the fund in a fiscal year that is not used by the institution in that fiscal year may be held and used by the institution in subsequent fiscal years.

Terms Used In Texas Education Code 62.136

  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • Year: means 12 consecutive months. See Texas Government Code 311.005
