- Advice and consent: Under the Constitution, presidential nominations for executive and judicial posts take effect only when confirmed by the Senate, and international treaties become effective only when the Senate approves them by a two-thirds vote.
The board is composed of nine members appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the senate. The members hold office for terms of six years, with the terms of three members expiring February 1 of odd-numbered years. Each member of the board shall be a qualified voter; and the members shall be selected from different portions of the state.
