Texas Election Code 15.0215 – Omission of Address for Federal or State Judge, Federal Official, and Family Member
(a) In this section, “family member” has the meaning assigned by § 31.006, Finance Code.
(b) On receiving notice from the Office of Court Administration of the Texas Judicial System of the person‘s qualification for office as a federal judge, including a federal bankruptcy judge, a marshal of the United States Marshals Service, a United States attorney, or a state judge and of the names of the judge’s or federal official’s family members, if applicable, the registrar of the county in which the judge resides shall:
(1) omit from the registration list the residence address of the judge or official and any family members of the judge or official; and
(2) prepare a memorandum of the notice, indicating the substance and date of the notification, and retain the memorandum on file with the application.

- Bankruptcy: Refers to statutes and judicial proceedings involving persons or businesses that cannot pay their debts and seek the assistance of the court in getting a fresh start. Under the protection of the bankruptcy court, debtors may discharge their debts, perhaps by paying a portion of each debt. Bankruptcy judges preside over these proceedings.
- Federal judge: means :
(A) a judge, former judge, or retired judge of a United States court of appeals;
(B) a judge, former judge, or retired judge of a United States district court;
(C) a judge, former judge, or retired judge of a United States bankruptcy court; or
(D) a magistrate judge, former magistrate judge, or retired magistrate judge of a United States district court. See Texas Election Code 1.005 - in writing: includes any representation of words, letters, or figures, whether by writing, printing, or other means. See Texas Government Code 312.011
- Person: includes corporation, organization, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, association, and any other legal entity. See Texas Government Code 311.005
- Residence address: means the street address and any apartment number, or the address at which mail is received if the residence has no address, and the city, state, and zip code that correspond to a person's residence. See Texas Election Code 1.005
- State judge: means :
(A) a judge, former judge, or retired judge of an appellate court, a district court, a constitutional county court, a county court at law, or a statutory probate court of this state;
(B) an associate judge appointed under Chapter 201, Family Code, or a retired associate judge or former associate judge appointed under that chapter;
(C) a magistrate or associate judge appointed under Chapter 54 or Texas Election Code 1.005 - United States: includes a department, bureau, or other agency of the United States of America. See Texas Government Code 311.005
- Year: means 12 consecutive months. See Texas Government Code 311.005
(c) A registered district voter who wishes to verify that an elected judge whose personal identifying information is confidential under § 552.1175, Government Code, resides in the district may request in writing that the registrar certify the judge lives in the district. The registrar shall exercise due diligence in determining the residence of the judge and respond to the voter in writing not later than the 10th business day after the date the request is received on whether the judge resides in the district. The registrar may not release the address of the judge. The registrar is not required to certify the residence of the same judge more than once in a calendar year, but must provide copies of the certification to subsequent requestors.
