(a) Except as provided by Subsection (b), the governing body of a political subdivision, other than a county, that orders an election shall deliver notice of the election, including the location of each polling place, to the county clerk and voter registrar of each county in which the political subdivision is located not later than the 60th day before election day. The county clerk shall post notice of the election, including the location of each polling place, on the county’s Internet website, if the county maintains a website, as provided by Section 4.003(b).
(b) The governing body of a school district that orders an election under Section 26.08, Tax Code, to ratify an ad valorem tax rate adopted by the governing body under Section 26.05(g) of that code shall deliver notice of the election to the county clerk of each county in which the school district is located not later than the 30th day before election day.

  • Political subdivision: means a county, city, or school district or any other governmental entity that:
    (A) embraces a geographic area with a defined boundary;
    (B) exists for the purpose of discharging functions of government; and
    (C) possesses authority for subordinate self-government through officers selected by it. See Texas Election Code 1.005
