Terms Used In Texas Government Code 26.210
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Justice: when applied to a magistrate, means justice of the peace. See Texas Government Code 312.011
In addition to other jurisdiction provided by law, the County Court of Hockley County has original concurrent jurisdiction with the justice courts in all civil matters in which the justice courts have jurisdiction under general law.
