Terms Used In Texas Government Code 26.226

  • Appellate: About appeals; an appellate court has the power to review the judgement of another lower court or tribunal.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Probate: Proving a will

The County Court of Johnson County has:
(1) the general jurisdiction of a probate court;
(2) juvenile jurisdiction as provided by § 26.042(b); and
(3) original and appellate jurisdiction over all matters over which county courts have jurisdiction under the constitution and laws of this state.
