Texas Government Code 481.0296 – Advanced Technology Industries
(a) The office shall coordinate state efforts to attract, develop, or retain technology industries in this state in certain sectors, including:
(1) the semiconductor industry;
(2) information and computer technology;
(3) microelectromechanical systems;
(4) manufactured energy systems;
(5) nanotechnology; and
(6) biotechnology.
(b) The office shall:
(1) recommend to the governor actions to promote economic development in the area of advanced technology;
(2) identify and assess specific economic development opportunities; and
(3) engage in outreach to advanced technology industries, including a joint venture created under the National Cooperative Research and Production Act of 1993 (15 U.S.C. § 4301 et seq.), as amended, that is exempt from federal taxation as an organization described by Section 501(c)(6), Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended.
