Terms Used In Texas Government Code 487.251
- Population: means the population shown by the most recent federal decennial census. See Texas Government Code 311.005
- United States: includes a department, bureau, or other agency of the United States of America. See Texas Government Code 311.005
In this subchapter:
(1) “Medically underserved area” means an area designated by the United States secretary of health and human services as having:
(A) a shortage of personal health services or a population group that has such a shortage as provided by 42 U.S.C. § 300e-1(7); or
(B) a health professional shortage as provided by 42 U.S.C. § 254e(a)(1).
(2) “Physician” means a resident physician who is enrolled in an accredited residency training program in this state in the specialty of:
(A) family practice;
(B) general internal medicine;
(C) general pediatric medicine; or
(D) general obstetrics and gynecology.
