Terms Used In Texas Government Code 508.321
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Justice: when applied to a magistrate, means justice of the peace. See Texas Government Code 312.011
- Restitution: The court-ordered payment of money by the defendant to the victim for damages caused by the criminal action.
The department, with the approval of the Texas Board of Criminal Justice, may contract with a public or private vendor to provide telephone reporting, automated caseload management, or collection services for:
(1) fines, fees, restitution, or other costs ordered to be paid by a court; or
(2) fees collected by the division.
