Terms Used In Texas Government Code 54B.012

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.

An associate judge shall give all parties notice of the right of appeal to the judge of the referring court. The notice may be given:
(1) at the hearing;
(2) by posting the notice inside or outside the courtroom of the referring court; or
(3) as otherwise directed by the referring court.
