Terms Used In Texas Health and Safety Code 102.257

  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • Oversight: Committee review of the activities of a Federal agency or program.
  • Year: means 12 consecutive months. See Texas Government Code 311.005

The oversight committee may grant funds for a multiyear project. The oversight committee must specify the total amount of money approved to fund the multiyear project. The total amount specified is considered for purposes of this subchapter to have been awarded in the state fiscal year that the project is approved by the research and prevention programs committee. The institute shall distribute only the money that will be expended during that fiscal year. The remaining money shall be distributed by the institute as the money is needed in each subsequent fiscal year.
