(a) The state fire marshal may inspect the records and the stock of cigarettes of a person who manufactures, stores, or sells cigarettes to establish whether the person is complying with this chapter.
(b) The comptroller may, in the course of an inspection under Chapter 154, Tax Code, inspect cigarettes for a marking required under § 796.006 and report the comptroller’s findings to the state fire marshal.
