Terms Used In Texas Insurance Code 822.002

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.

An insurance company incorporated in this state is subject to the Texas Business Corporation Act, the Texas Miscellaneous Corporation Laws Act (Article 1302-1.01 et seq., Vernon’s Texas Civil Statutes), and any other law of this state that governs corporations in general to the extent those laws are not inconsistent with this code.
